課程概述

[Please see the class website for more information: http://homepage.ntu.edu.tw/~josephw/microseminar_15F.htm]

This is the NTU micro seminar that invites speakers to present their current research.

課程目標
The purpose of this course is to expose students to the frontier of microeconomics.
課程要求
This is a departmental seminar aimed at graduate students and faculty. The grades for this course will be assigned according to three criteria: (1) Participation, (2) Written Introduction and (3) Feedback to Other’s Introduction.

1. Participation (10%): Students are expected to attend most of the presentations and ask questions or give comments during them.
2. Written Introduction (導讀, 70%): Read one of the seminar papers before the seminar, write a one-page report, and submit it three days prior to the seminar (i.e. Monday). On this one-page report, you should write a short summary (less than 500 words) that briefly answers the following questions:
a. What is the question (of the paper)?
b. Why should we care about it?
c. What is your (or the author’s) answer?
d. How did you (or the author) get there?
In addition, provide (on the back page) a list of common notation used (theory) or regression variables (empirical study) throughout the paper so people can easily refer to during the talk.
3. Feedback to Other’s Introduction (20%): After reading each week’s introduction and attending the seminar, you are to evaluate how helpful the introduction was for understanding the actual talk by giving a numerical score and written feedback.

Note: Please sign up to write introductions ASAP since it is “first come, first serve.” The first two students who sign up for each talk will get it. Later students may have to switch to other talks if nobody signed up for them. Also, you can sign up for more than one talk to “exceed instructor’s expectations” (official written criteria for A+). Lastly, feedback to other’s introduction will be conducted using online surveys created by google document.
